The Proteas Women took an unassailable 3-0 lead in their five-match T20I series against India with a commanding nine-wicket win in the third match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Wednesday, powered by Laura Wolvaardt’s unbeaten 115 and Suné Luus’s 64 not out.
South Africa’s chase was nothing short of spectacular.
Captain Wolvaardt led from the front with a magnificent unbeaten 115 off 53 balls, anchoring the innings with authority and elegance.
She was well supported by Luus, who contributed a fluent 64, as the pair dismantled the Indian bowling attack with ease.
Earlier, India had put up a competitive total of 192/4, setting the stage for what looked like a challenging chase.
However, the Proteas batters turned it into a one-sided affair, showcasing clean hitting and smart placement on a batting-friendly surface.
The match turned into a run-fest, with a combined 385 runs scored, but it was South Africa’s clinical execution that stood out.
Wolvaardt was named the player of the match, as she showed her dominance and leadership at the crease.
With the series already sealed, attention now shifts to the fourth T20 International, which is set to take place on Saturday, again at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, where South Africa will be aiming for a clean sweep while India looks to restore pride.
