Zambian football club players test positive for COVID-19.

LUSAKA, July 18 (Xinhua) — Twenty-eight players and support staff at Zambia’s premier football side Forest Rangers have tested positive for COVID-19, a spokesperson said on Saturday.

Christina Zulu, the team’s spokesperson, said 58 players and support staff undertook tests earlier this week in accordance with health guidelines put in place by the Ministry of Health and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) in readiness for the resumption of the season.

The club has since engaged the district health officials for necessary precautions as well communicated the results to the soccer governing body, she added.

Rangers are the current league leaders and are expected to host Zanaco as the league resumes after an abrupt stop due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
