OSCAR Pistorius has been denied parole over the killing of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp 10 years ago.
The Department of Correctional Services said it has received the decision of the Correctional Supervision and Parole Board (CSPB) on the parole consideration for the former Olympic sprinter.
“The PCPB granted inmate Pistorius a further profile for August 2024. The reason provided is that the inmate did not complete the minimum detention period as ruled by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA),” DCS said in a statement.
Pistorius, who was found guilty of murdering Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013, was seeking to be released from the Atteridgeville Correctional Centre in Pretoria after serving 10 years.
Barry and June Steenkamp, Reeva’s parents, were against Pistorius’ release, and the decision made on Friday means that they will have to wait until August next year for another hearing.
